WooCommerce Video Product Tab

WooCommerce Video Product Tab allows you to add a video to your products page. When adding a product select the ‘Video’ tab and insert your embed code where asked. A new tab will appear on the product page and your video will load when the tab is pressed on.

WooCommerce Video Product Tab works with any theme that supports WooCommerce.

Minimum Requirements

WooCommerce 1.6.2 or higher.

Automatic installation

Automatic installation is the easiest option as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t even need to leave your web browser. To do an automatic install of WooCommerce Video Product Tab, log in to your WordPress admin panel, navigate to the Plugins menu and click Add New.

In the search field type “WooCommerce Video Product Tab” and click Search Plugins. Once you’ve found my plugin extension you can view details about it such as the the point release, rating and description. Most importantly of course, you can install it by simply clicking Install Now. After clicking that link you will be asked if you’re sure you want to install the plugin. Click yes and WordPress will automatically complete the installation.

Manual installation

The manual installation method involves downloading my plugin and uploading it to your webserver via your favourite FTP application.

1. Download the plugin file to your computer and unzip it
2. Using an FTP program, or your hosting control panel, upload the unzipped plugin folder to your WordPress installation’s wp-content/plugins/ directory.
3. Activate the plugin from the Plugins menu within the WordPress admin.

Upgrading

Automatic updates should work like a charm; as always though, ensure you backup your site just in case.

    Hi,

    Maybe it’s something on my end, but it looks like this plugin isn’t compatible with the woocommerce 2.02. It make all of the tabs disappear when activated.

    If this is a known issue and you plan to update, please let me know.

    Thanks for your time,

    -John

      Yes I am debugging the plugin for WooCommerce version 2. Please see the support forum topic on WordPress.org for further updates.

    I’ve also found that this plugin causes the other default product tabs to disappear with the latest update of WooCommerce (2.0.2). After disabling the plugin, the tabs are available again. Looking forward to an update as I love this tab for products!

      The plugin has been updated and is now compatible with the old and the current new WooCommerce 2.0. Hope you find it useful.

    Hi Sebastien,

    Is there a way to play my self hosted video in the tab without using a youtube embed?

    Let me know, thanks in advance.

    Gerry

    • Sebastien March 11, 2013 at 2:59 pm #

      I’ve never hosted a video my self, but you can insert any video embed from any host. It is not fixed on just YouTube. Hope that helps.

        I have uploaded the video to my server. I put the url location of the video in the video tab for the product. All that shows up in the front end in the video tab, is the url that I put there.

        I guess I don’t understand the whole embed concept.

        • Sebastien March 12, 2013 at 10:19 am #

          You can’t just simply enter a url address of the video you want to display. It doesn’t work like that.

          • Gerry March 12, 2013 at 10:56 pm #

            Well I tried, I am no programmer or webdeveloper, I could not get it to work.

            Regretfully uninstalling plugin.

            Thanks for your time.

          • Sebastien March 12, 2013 at 11:36 pm #

            Sorry that you have been unable to use the plugin. I don’t understand why you are finding it hard insert a embed code.

  4. Gerry March 12, 2013 at 10:57 pm #

    Instructions on ‘how to’ might have been useful instead of a ‘you cannot do it like that’.

    Maybe it’s because I’m french, I don’t understand.

    All the best

      Did you not see the new screenshots I placed above. It shows an example of how to insert a video embed code. How are you trying to insert a video and what player are you using ?

    Hi,
    Can I add more than one video for a single product? If so, may i know how to do it…
    Thanks

    • Sebastien March 16, 2013 at 10:58 am #

      Yes you can. Just simply create a new line and paste another embed code underneath the first or above. You decide which order to put them in. Save the product and all videos embedded will show.

    Hi where is the download of the fixed version? I downloaded the latest build from your shop and it still breaks the other product tabs.
    Also the width of the video seems to be fixed to the width of the tab – even after reducing the width setting in the iframe down to 300px.

    • Sebastien March 17, 2013 at 9:51 pm #

      The link to download the latest version is directly from WordPress.org

      I am using the plugin myself on this site and it works fine. If the width is not changing it is possible your theme has some css overriding it. I have not applied any css to the plugin for the front. I have had no problems with the width my self. Please send me screenshot of the problem via my contact form along with a list of the plugins you have active. I will look into it and let you know. Please in future use the support forum on WordPress.org Thank you.

    Sorry it works now – i didnt have description filled in for one of the products.
    However is till need to reduce the size of the video so it doesnt take the full space of the tab. Can you clarify how to do this? As i said abovee i reduced the width in the iframe but it made no difference only the height change was applied – thus giving me a full width video but a truncatted video in height. :(

    • Sebastien March 17, 2013 at 10:15 pm #

      I’m glade the tab is now working. Please use support forum for support. Thank you.

    Hi i think we posted at the same time. I sent a screenshot of the sizing issue in the contact form as suggested. Please check and thanks! I noticed this style for the video div:
    .fluid-width-video-wrapper {
    width: 100%;
    position: relative;
    padding: 0;
    }
    The width setting appears to be forcing it. Is that not your style?

    • Sebastien April 8, 2013 at 5:12 pm #

      No that is not my styling.
